Thank you Successful Culture Supporters! Leaders don't start Movements….Courageous Followers start Movements!

Leaders are known to start movements. However, it isn’t really the leader that starts the movement of a new way of thinking, being, or doing. Rather, it is the follower.

The first follower is what transforms a lone nut into a leader. Then, new followers emulate the follower, not the leader.

The first follower shows others how to follow…followership is an underestimated and essential form of leadership in itself.

In starting Successful Culture, I am launching a Culture Movement. However, my ideas and my vision are worthless without support from those who have the courage to embrace my direction, and from those who have faith in me.

The Law of Diffusion of Innovation; Tipping Points

The Law of Diffusion of Innovation states this:

  • 2.5 percent of us are innovators
  • 13.5 percent of us are early adopters
  • 34 percent of us are early majority joiners
  • 34 percent of us are late majority joiners
  • 16 percent of us are laggards (joining in only when they have no choice – think moving from analog to digital)

“Tipping Points” occur only after a 15% – 18% penetration rate… only after the innovators and early adopters are fully on board with an idea.

My vision for Successful Culture is quite grand. As I venture towards my personal Tipping Point to fulfill it, my hope is that I will transform, teach, motivate, and inspire thousands – perhaps millions – on how to build a Culture of Greatness in all aspects of their lives. While some of my concepts may be a bit radical, as more join in, the Culture Movement will seem less and less radical.

I say a heartfelt THANK YOU to my early adopters – my courageous followers – who are helping me to create a Culture Movement.

I invite you to enjoy a super-fun 3-minute TED Talk by Derek Sivers on How to Start a Movement: http://www.ted.com/talks/derek_sivers_how_to_start_a_movement.html

This is a GREAT clip, and one you will want to save in your Favorites folder.

As always, I look forward to your comments and messages.
